From Men’s Journal:
Ask us about Asheville and we’ll gush about its legendary fly-fishing and world-class singletrack. Now, thanks to the Iron Man, we have McCormick Field to obsess over. “There are still some small parks in small towns that offer unique venues for watching America’s game,” says the two-time AL MVP, “and McCormick is one of them.” Open since 1924 and twice renovated in 1959 and 1992, this natural grass park served as one of the principal settings for Kevin Costner‘s Oscar-nominated flick ‘Bull Durham.’ It’s unique, as Ripken describes, with “an old wood grandstand that takes you back in time.” With day-of tickets for the Asheville Tourists available for just eight bucks, this is one stadium you simply can’t afford to miss it.
Will be interesting to see how the Tourists do this year without long term manager Joe Mikulik. Find out more about Mikulik’s dismissal here.
