There is no question in my mind, which burrito shop in Asheville has the best burrito in town. Behold the mother ship of all burrito palaces, Mamacitas Mexican Taqueria.
I chowed down on a Pork Shoulder burrito (stuffed with pork shoulder, sweet potatoes, black beans, cheese, jalapeños, lettuce, sour cream, and pico de gallo) after Downtown After Five last Friday. The mashed sweet potatoes provide a sweet alternative to traditional rice. Busting at the seams with a cornucopia of goodness this bad boy of a burrito is also the biggest burrito in town as far as I know.
Mamacita’s is a little bit pricier than its counterparts but the extra dollar or two is so worth it. Mamacita’s recently expanded into the old Mo Daddy’s location to open up Mamacita’s Baja Kitchen, which according to the website offers a “coastal inspired menu featuring fresh ceviche, lobster enchiladas, ensenada-style fish tacos, soft-shell crab tacos, as well as traditional Mexican classics like mole poblano, carnitas, and sopes all made from scratch in house.”
Has anyone tried Baja Kitchen yet?
