Countdown to Laugh Your Asheville Off, Today’s comedian Kenny DeForest

50 days left until Asheville’s annual comedy festival, Laugh Your Asheville Off, August 13th to August 17th.   Today’s feature comedian that will be performing at Laugh Your Asheville Off is Kenny DeForest.   From DeForest’s Rooftop Comedy Bio: Kenny DeForest is a 5 year stand up comedy veteran based in Chicago, IL. Labeled a hustler by his peers, Kenny’s comedy can be described as edgy, smart and honest. Since arriving in Chicago, Kenny has become a regular performer at Chicago’s top clubs and showcases including The Laugh Factory, The Comedy Bar, The Lincoln Lodge, Comedians You Should Know, and featured on the widely released “Chicago Mixtapes: Comedy Mixtape”; all after being named “Favorite Newcomer 2010” by comedyofchicago.com. The most important thing of note is that Kenny always has as much fun performing as audiences do watching him.   Here is a clip of DeForest performing:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyQPDkPXQFI   For tickets to Laugh Your Asheville Off held August 13th through 17th click here.   For more Asheville stand up comedy check out our Asheville Comedy...

Comedian Kyle Kinane at Lexington Avenue Brewery Wednesday night

Disclaimer Underground Comedy presents Comedian Kyle Kinane at Lexington Avenue Brewery Wednesday night.   Show starts at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $14 and can be purchased here. Quit reading my blog and go buy tickets because the show will probably sell out, if it hasn’t already.   About Kinane: Comedian Kyle Kinane was last seen in Asheville as a featured performer in the 2011 Laugh Your Asheville Off comedy festival (and prior to that, crushing at the Orange Peel where he opened for Patton Oswalt).   Coming on-stage with a gruff demeanor and a booze-swiller’s bad ass attitude, Kinane surprises newcomers with his unexpectedly well-crafted standup sets. Born in Chicago, Kinane first tried his hand at comedy while attending Columbia College, influenced by the loose yet confident work of Mitch Hedberg and Patton Oswalt. He moved to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue his craft, and by 2007, he was invited to the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival along with the television show Last Call with Carson Daly. In 2010, he released his debut album “Death of the Party” on the Aspecialthing label, and a year later, he starred in his own episode of theComedy Central Presents series. In 2012 he worked alongside Bob Odenkirk, Zach Galifianakis, and others and developed an animated series for Comedy Central called Triptank.   He has performed in the Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival, LA Comedy Fest, the Vancouver Comedy Festival, the DC Comedy Fest, and the Leicester Comedy Festival in the United Kingdom, in addition to SXSW and Bonnaroo.   Here is a clip of Kinane performing:     Joining Kinane on stage will be comedians Nate Craig and Sean Patton, who are headliners in their own right. Local comedians Cary Goff and Minori Hinds will also be performing.   For more Asheville stand up comedy check out our Asheville Comedy Calendar!...

Slice of Life Comedy presents Love to Locals Comedy Showcase featuring Art Sturtevant tonight

Slice of Life Comedy presents Love to Locals Comedy Showcase featuring local comedian Art Sturtevant tonight at the PULP.   Doors open at 8:30 p.m., show starts at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $5, which includes a year membership to the Pulp.   About Sturtevant: It was the dawn of time — the early 1980’s. DeLoreans and mullets roamed the Earth. And Art Sturtevant was doing stand up comedy. It was a golden age — a time of laughter and Ginsu Knife jokes and Lee Trevino imitations, but it ended suddenly in 1985. What happened? Some say he was frozen in a liquid nitrogen accident. Others say he took a series of field management jobs with national corporations. Just as suddenly as he’d disappeared, Art resurfaced in the open mic venues of January 2010. He’s been back at it ever since!   When I first started to look into doing stand up comedy three years ago, Sturtevant is the comic I aspired to be.  Three years later that hasn’t changed and neither has my fear of getting on stage, someday….   Here is a clip of Sturtevant performing:     Joining Sturtevant on stage will be comedians Taylor Rogers, Ben Atkins, Fay Canale, Petey Smith McDowell, Josh Rosenstein, Ryan Folks, Josh Mcdaniel, Jessica Tomasin, and your host for the evening comedian Kelly Row.   For more Asheville stand up comedy check out our Asheville Comedy Calendar!...
