Comic Kristine Kinsey at Metro Wines tonight

Knoxville comedian Kristine Kinsey will take the stage tonight at Metro Wines.  Show starts at 7:00 p.m., tickets are $10, which also includes a glass of wine.   About Kinsey: Kristine Kinsey is domestically challenged, romantically depraved, & maternally inept.  She manages to find humor in her incompetence, & has brought her twisted observations to comedy clubs across the Southeast.  She has also performed in The World Series of Comedy and the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. Kristine has been seen on the stand-up showcase ‘NickMom Night Out’ on the NickMom channel, and had a small speaking part on an episode in Season 7 of Last Comic Standing.  She is a regular weekend deejay on 105.3 fm in Knoxville, a college student, a massage therapist, a mom, and an unrepentant smartass.  Apologies in advance. Here is a clip of Kinsey performing: Joining Kinsey on stage will be Asheville comedians Peter Smith McDowell and Allie...

Comic Julie Scoggins at Millroom tonight

From the Press Release: On Friday, January 10th, Funny Business at the Millroom Presents national headliner Julie Scoggins in downtown Asheville at The Millroom for two high-quality comedy shows at 7:00pm and 9:30pm.   Julie’s regularly heard on XM/Sirius Blue Collar Radio, as well as many syndicated stations including the John Boy & Billy Show, and the Bob & Sheri Show, (Charlotte, NC), & the Bob & Tom Show (Indianapolis, IN).  A Southern girl with universal appeal, Julie’s shows sell out from Florida to Oregon. Folks actually WANT to sit in the front row & have been known to return a second night, just so they can bring friends that haven’t yet seen her. “Phyllis Diller started comedy at 37 years old & so did I. She went on to have a fabulous career that lasted over 40 years. I hope to be just as fortunate. It’s so awesome to be doing exactly what I feel like I’m meant to do!”   Special guest for the evening is comedian Cliff Cash. Cliff comes from the religious and conservative south and adds a new twist to stand-up and you won’t soon forget it. Finding absurdities in everyday culture, media, politics and dogma; Cash draws comparisons that others miss. Whether it’s through one of his characters or voices, an angry rant or a satirical rap song, Cliff will make you question what you accept as normal. A rising star on the comedy circuit, Cash is quickly climbing the ranks. He is featuring all over with multiple sets and hours of material, being accepted to the Cape Fear Comedy Festival three years in a row and winning Port City’s Top Comic 2013. Hosting the evening will be Asheville Comedian Kelly Rowe.   Buying tickets in advanced is highly-recommended and can be done so by visitinghttp://ashevillemillroom.com/asheville-comedy or at http://avlcomedy.bpt.me/ or by calling 800-838-3006. Comic Alex Stokes at Metro Wines tonight

From Gina co-owner of Metro Wines (Check out my Finding Asheville episode with Gina here): This show promises to be great. Headliner is Alex Stokes of The MidLife Crisis Comedy Tour. Alex will sign his new book “Messing with Tourists” after the show. Same deal as always, $10 for a glass of wine or bottle of beer, popcorn and the show. Plenty of free and easy parking.   Show starts at 7:00 p.m.   About Stokes: Stokes is a Stand Up Comedian, Author, and Public Speaker from Sevierville, TN. Alex currently resides in Seymour, TN, with his wife Jenny and their four children.   Alex’s Stand Up Career began at Side Splitters Comedy Club in Knoxville, TN, after a 14 year stint as a Stock Broker. Within his first year, he had won several Stand Up Comedy contests and was awarded his first feature spot opening for a nationally touring comedian. Also, in that first year Alex teamed up with fellow comedians Sandy Goddard and Jay Pinkerton, forming the “M.L.C. Comics”, touring across the country to L.A.’s famous “The Comedy Store.” Since that first year, Alex has performed all over the country in comedy clubs, festivals, charity and corporate events.    Alex is a true life storyteller when he performs onstage. His stories often times make fun of himself, embarking upon a crazy past that includes a short time playing college basketball, dancing in a rave club, his career as an investment broker, and his family. However, most of these stories usually end with an “unforeseen” twist, leaving the audience to laugh hysterically while shaking their heads.    In July of 2013, Alex released his first book, “Messing With Tourists: Stupid Answers To Stupid Questions.” The book is a collection of conversations Alex had with Tourists in one of America’s most popular vacation destinations, Gatlinburg, TN. If asked a “stupid” or “rude” question, Alex would respond in his own quick witted, sarcastic way. The conversations in this book will leave you laughing while shaking your head at humanity.     Here is a clip of Stokes...
