Born in the South. Raised by wolves. Comedian for the people. He looks like he was kicked out of Weezer and sounds like he was an extra on Mama’s Family. He grew up wanting to be a preacher but sold his soul to the devil for a joke. He is made of meat. In 2012, Gary performed at the Laughing Skull Festival in Atlanta. He didn’t win but he sure won a lot of hearts. In the past few years, Gary has made a name for himself in comedy by co-founding Corporate Juggernaut, which is a series of comedy shows at The High Watt based in Nashville. Corporate Juggernaut shows have enabled him to open for some of comedy’s brightest talent including: Pete Holmes, Kyle Kinane, Rory Scovel, and many others. Gary’s style of comedy can range from smart to dumb, personal to absurd or from crass to childish. Either way, you can’t help but laugh. He is a very funny comedian. Since moving to Chicago in 2010 to study Improv at the Annoyance Theater, he has been named ‘Best of the Midwest’ by the Iowa Comedy Festival and has been featured in Chicago’s Snubfest Comedy Festival, the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, Boston’s Magners Comedy Festival, The World Series of Comedy, the Detroit Comedy Festival, The Milwaukee Comedy Festival, Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival, Cleveland’s Ingenuity Fest, and the 2012 Laughing Devil Comedy Festival in New York. He was also featured in Comcast’s televised stand up specials ‘Who’s Laughing Now?’ and ‘Trial by Laughter’ as well as the College Humor Live show at the UCB theater in New York. 8 days left until Asheville’s annual comedy festival, Laugh Your Asheville Off, August 13th to August 17th.   Today’s feature comedian that will be performing at Laugh Your Asheville Off is Brian Parise.   From Parise’s Bio: Brian Parise started out doing comedy in Washington DC where he quickly became a regular at the DC Improv and Arlington Drafthouse.  He was recently selected as one of the New Faces for the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, and has performed at the Boston Comedy Festival and Laugh Your Asheville Off comedy festival three times. Brian has also been recognized as a sharp political comic, winning first place in Pardon the Pundit’s Political Comedy Competition and then roasting Washington’s political elites at DC’s Funniest Celebrity (where he was threatened with a tax audit).  He has performed with great comedians like Dave Attell, Patrice O’Neal, Bill Burr, and brought his ridiculous imagination and unique outlook to crowds across the country.
